GM Installation Instructions
Installation Instructions:
1. Before starting the installation process, make sure the vehicle ignition has been
completely OFF for at least 10 minutes so that the system power is fully depleted.
2. With the vehicle powered OFF, eject the existing SD card from the SD card slot:
i. In most models, this is done via a gentle push on the SD card.
ii. The SD card slot is typically in the center console or the center of the
instrument panel below the climate controls. If you are unable to find your
SD card slot, please check your vehicle manual or contact your dealer.
Note: Once installed, the SD Card will become VIN specific. It cannot
be used to update another vehicle.
3. Insert the new SD card into the slot. Please make sure the new SD card sits firmly in
the slot.
4. Only after the SD card is in the slot, turn the ignition ON for the vehicle, then turn the
infotainment/navigation system ON.
i. If nothing happens right away, touch the Navigation Icon at the bottom of
your screen.
5. You will see a screen that says “Once Initialized, this NAV SD Card can only be used
for navigation in this vehicle”.
i. Press the ‘Confirm’ button.
Note: If you see any other screens that ask you to ‘Allow’ Permissions,
please press the
‘ Allow’ button.
6. If successful, the last screen will show the Navigation Map.
Note: The navigation system runs continuously off of the SD Card. The update does not
'Download' to your system. Therefore if your maps/navigation are showing - then the
update is installed correctly. The 'Version' number in the 'About' Menu will not change
after installing a map update.
Troubleshooting:
• In the event that the Nav app failed to recognize the new (or any) SD card, it
will show the following error: “This Nav SD card is not valid for navigation”.
In such case, retry the whole process by taking out the SD card, ensuring it is the
correct card, and is both inserted properly and held firmly in the card slot.
